AlvegoRoot Theatre Returns to Live Performance this Fall!
In a week AlvegoRoot will be releasing our filmed productions of The Bicycle Play and Pirates of Long Point. But in the meantime we cannot wait to share with you our plans for our live fall season. We are thrilled to be partnering with Somerville 630, at 630 Dundas Street to present a season of two productions that showcase London playwrights. First from September 10 to 12 we will present Tales for a Reaney Day, a double bill of two short stories by London’s preeminent playwright James Reaney. In this production Reaney’s story The Box Social will be performed by Kydra Ryan and directed by myself, Adam Corrigan Holowitz, in Reaney’s The Bully the roles will be reversed with me performing and Kydra directing. Tickets are on sale now for Tales for a Reaney Day and seating will be limited, in accordance with public health guidelines.
In October we will be presenting the long awaited live performance premiere of Kydra Ryan’s science-fiction inspired play Of Gods and Machines. We premiered this play last year as an audio drama, and now you can see it come to life on stage! Kydra and the ensemble have been making new fascinating discoveries with this work and I can promise you will be in for an exciting treat whether you are coming to this work for the very first time or are experiencing it for a second time, but for the first time in the medium it was originally intended to be seen in. Tickets are on sale now for Of Gods and Machines.
I am delighted to be partnering with Somerville 630 and Kathy Navackas to present this season, I believe 630 Somerville will become a cornerstone of the cultural life of our city, and it is thrilling to be part of some of the venue’s early performance ventures. It is a fantastic space, the flexibility of the building invites creativity. The building is home to food vendors, businesses and an art gallery and a cultural space which reflects our city beautifully.
Looking forward to seeing you at Somerville 630 for live theatre this fall!
