AlvegoRoot Theatre · Across the Waves: Joe Bowman Remembers World War Two
AUDIO COLLAGE
In recognition of Remembrance Day, this audio collage combines music with selections from a 2011 archive interview Adam Corrigan Holowitz conducted with local World War Two veteran, Joe Bowman. Joe lived in the neighbourhood of Manor Park in London Ontario for most of his life. He was lovingly referred to as “the Mayor of Manor Park”. Joe served as a medic in the Second World War, including on D-Day and the Liberation of Europe. This interview provides an unflinching and honest depiction of World War Two from someone who experienced it firsthand. Joe passed away in 2013 at the age of 94, making this recording a treasured document of his experience.
Produced by Adam Corrigan Holowitz

AlvegoRoot acknowledges that we create work on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak and Attawandaron peoples as well as nations both recorded and unrecorded who have been caretakers of this land for time immemorial.  These lands are connected with the London Township and Sombra Treaties of 1796 and the Dish with One Spoon Covenant Wampum.
