Streetscape Playwriting Workshop
Time: Sunday September 26th from 10:30 am – 3:30 pm
Lunch Break from 12:00 pm – 1:00pm

Location: Market Lane, 137 Dundas Street
This class is outdoors as part of Dundas Place Programming.

Join dramaturg and playwright Adam Corrigan Holowitz for a one day playwriting workshop. By the end of the day participants will have created a short monodrama of stories that are in the downtown that are just waiting to be imagined, created and discovered!

Each participant will pick a specific building or landmark in London’s downtown and write a short monodrama inspired by the building and its immediate surroundings. The monodramas can be based on historical research, or drawn from personal connections with a location, or be fictional. Throughout the workshop Adam will share techniques and ideas on playwriting.

We welcome participants with any level of experience in playwriting. In fact we believe the success of this playwrights workshop will come from having a group that includes everyone from experienced playwrights to people who have an interest in writing for the theatre but have yet to try it.

If you are interested in participating please include in your application, why you are interested in being part of this workshop and how you believe this experience will help you develop/learn as an artist.

Participants can bring their writing tool of choice (laptop, pad, paper notebook).

Pre-Registration is required, please fill out the application form on the page. Masks must be worn at all times during the workshop. Class capacity is twelve participants.

The class is free, with open access made possible by Dundas Place.

AlvegoRoot acknowledges that we create work on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak and Attawandaron peoples as well as nations both recorded and unrecorded who have been caretakers of this land for time immemorial.  These lands are connected with the London Township and Sombra Treaties of 1796 and the Dish with One Spoon Covenant Wampum.
