Dear AlvegoRoot audience,
When I choose the 2020 Season theme to be Communities at a Turning Point, I had no idea how appropriate that theme would become. Our global community is certainly at a turning point. Each day we are hearing stories of heartbreak but also inspiration, for many members in our community these are not stories but present realities in their lives. If this describes your current life, know you are in the hearts of everyone at AlvegoRoot.
It perhaps goes without saying that due to COVID-19 AlvegoRoot’s 2020 Summer Season, presented in association with Fanshawe Pioneer Village, of The Bicycle Play and Pirates of Long Point has been postponed until the summer of 2021. We are all very excited that these two plays will make an exceptional 2021 Season. Personally I feel particularly confident that these are two stories London needs to see. For example the response and enthusiasm we have received from the cycling community for The Bicycle Play is very exciting. When that play premieres it will be a very special experience.
In the meantime please visit and enjoy our 2020 virtual season.
I would like to acknowledge the actors who were to make up our 2020 ensemble: Casey Cornell, Elizabeth Durand, Dan Ebbs, Kydra Ryan and Bronwyn Wilson. Sue Parke was to design the productions. Stephen Holowitz was to be music director. While acknowledging that a lot can change for an actor over a year, it is my hope we can welcome this entire ensemble back in 2021.
We would like to thank our donors who have contributed to the development of these plays. Your gift is making a big difference in getting these two plays to the stage. We have some plans in the works for digital content, and when it is safe to return to the theatre it is very possible that we will be able to announce some additional programming.
Till then wishing you all health and well being. Thank you all for your support,
Adam Corrigan Holowitz,
Artistic Director, AlvegoRoot Theatre
